It’s a month of love, and there are many people that I’m thankful for and appreciate, but there are also many scrapbooking tools I’ve fallen in love with over the years too. Check out these 5 scrapbooking tools I’ve fallen in love with, and why you need these in your tool box too!
1. Circle Cutter
For me, the Creative Memories Circle Cutter was one of those tools that I didn’t see the point in when it came out. After all, I had the Custom Cutting System with the Circle Patterns…what would I need this for?
But along came ideas and displays of how people were using it, so I decided to give it a try. After about a week or two, it was the tool I reached for more than the Circle Patterns and Custom Cutting System…
For one, this is a ONE piece tool. I throw it in my cropping bag for a weekend and that is all I need to worry about for making circles. It provides a wider variety of circle making that the Custom Cutting System can’t reach with it’s limited patterns and blades. (However, for ovals and other shapes, I reach for the Custom Cutting System.)
There is also a place on the other end of the tool for pens! You can literally trace perfect circles on your pages and layouts with this handy tool.
Figuring out how to use it was also a reason I didn’t like it at first, and I am finding that is a hindrance for many. However, I did watch a video by Noreen Smith, demonstrating the Circle Cutter and realized I was overthinking and over-pressing when I was trying to create circles. You can watch her helpful video here.
If you like to add various shaped circles, rings, and drawn circles to your pages, you will want the Circle Cutter in your toolbox. This is 1 of my 5 scrapbooking tools that I have fallen in love with.
2. Decorative Trimmer
Another of the 5 Scrapbook Tools I’ve fallen in love with is the Decorative Trimmer. This is one of those tools that I didn’t see a need for, but now take everywhere with me.
The Decorative Trimmer is so helpful in creating dynamic pages, giving you the ability to make some waves and slopes for a different feel on your layout. I love to jazz up a border or background with the wavy cuts.
This trimmer has two different styles of waves you can create, whether you decide to put a more gentle wave on your page, or more exciting, frequent waves. I have made some gorgeous layouts with this trimmer and I am excited to keep playing with it and find even more ways to implement it on my pages!
Definitely add this tool to your pocket if you want to create some more exciting, and wavy pages and borders!
3. Personal Trimmer
The Personal Trimmer has been a favored Creative Memories essential for a very long time. This handy little trimmer is excellent for those smaller projects you are working on, like cards, and cropping photos.
I know many who get some card making supplies, and throw those and this trimmer into a little tote for a camping trip, or to even do in the car on long rides. The storage drawer on this trimmer also helps for bringing any other little tools along, like your tape runner, scissors, etc.
I have had my Personal Trimmer for about 15 years, and it is still going strong! I love it for cropping photos on the go and trimming down mats for layouts.
If you want a reliable, portable trimmer for those little projects, the Personal Trimmer is a must and is why it is one of my 5 scrapbooking tools I have fallen in love with!
4. Border Punches are 1 of the 5 Scrapbooking Tools I Love
I love Creative Memories for so many reasons, but their innovative and unique tools are definitely at the top of list of reasons. The Border Punches are a prime example of these unique tools.
These punches stand alone, so need no other system to be used, and come in many different themes and shapes so you can find the perfect border for your layouts!
Aside from borders, these punches are fun to use for other techniques, like circle borders and layered borders to add some pizazz to your page. They are easy and fun to use. Check out some of my page examples I have used border punches on:
Border punches have a very good reason to be in my list of 5 scrapbooking tools I have fallen in love with, and I highly recommend them to any level scrapbooker and crafter.
5. Small Flex POD
The Small Flex POD is a newer addition to the Creative Memories line, but it is a very versatile and useful storage help. I have seen people use these neat, little caddies for so many things from storing tape runners, tools, Border Maker Cartridges, their candy stash…you name it!
I love to use the Small Flex POD for punches I am bringing to a weekend crop away because it doesn’t get as heavy. It can also fit right into my totes so I don’t have to carry it separately from the rest of my bags.
This past weekend, I attended a crop and had one of these for just my punches that I had decided to bring, and another for my extra, small tools and pens. It worked wonderfully, and I was able to find what I needed so easily, as things didn’t get lost as they can do in larger totes.
