I love how versatile scrapbooking is and that everyone has a different style of creating a page! Because of those different techniques and styles different people like to use, there are certain tools that I love that help me complete the layouts I want to make more efficiently, like the one I did here. Here are 6 scrapbooking tools I’m thankful for when I am crafting!

1. 12 Inch Trimmer

Scrapbooking Tools

Not only is a good trimmer essential for creating beautiful layouts, but one that has lots of handy features really adds to the excitement of it. The Creative Memories newest 12 inch trimmer is definitely that added essential for your scrapping tool kit.

Why I love it: This handy trimmer is not only the most satisfying cut you will get from using a trimmer, but it comes with a slew of features and hidden gems that will make your scrappy life so much easier. On the bottom of the trimmer, there is storage for all of your decorative blades so you never have to worry about storing or losing them! Yes, you can switch out your cartridges for different cutting blade styles! You also have handy space underneath for a replacement mat strip to keep you cutting neatly for your entire crop.

The trimmer also comes with a foldout arm that helps you measure to cut a 12×12 sheet of paper without making it so large that you can’t just toss it in your tote bag and go. It also comes with some reassuring guidelines that can be stowed away when you don’t want them, but can serve to make you certain of where the trimmer will cut your paper. This was a surprise feature to me that I discovered after owning it for a bit, and it’s like I discovered a whole new trimmer!

The guidelines on the trimmer itself are also awesome for cutting angles and knowing what size paper you will have after cutting. Because of these great elements to this trimmer, it is one of the 6 scrapbooking tools I’m thankful for.

2. Multipurpose Tool

Scrapbooking Tools

Just like the name says, the Creative Memories multipurpose tool has many uses that make it an essential for my tool kit. It seems like every time I hang out with friends at a crop, I see them using it in a new way, and I am once again reaching for this handy tool to meet all sorts of crafting needs.

Why I love it: I think it goes without saying that sometimes embellishments get inadvertently stuck to the page in a way not intended, and the multipurpose tool never fails to help me pry them off so I can re-stick them how I want them. This tool also helps me place tiny pieces and stickers like letters by using the point to set them on the page in just the right spot.

I’ve used this tool for getting stuck paper out of punches, give a crisp fold to cardstock, and stick down embellishments onto glue where I didn’t want to get sticky fingers. It is a necessary must have in your crop bag, and would make an excellent gift for the fellow cropper in your life, making it one of the scrapbooking tools I’m thankful for.

3. Repositional Tape Runner

Scrapbooking Tools

There isn’t anything much worse than when you have a tedious embellishment or border to stick down, and your tape runner is too wide for the small areas, or your glue pen gets everywhere while trying to use it on said item. That is why Creative Memories invented their Repositional Tape Runner!

Scrapbooking Tools

Why I love it: Not only does this nifty adhesive allow you to “test stick” items to your page and leave you time to move them before becoming permanent, but it also serves to handle those elaborate embellishments that no adhesive seems to work right for. It comes off the strip in little, clear dots that rub off of any surface or paper you don’t want it on (as long as you do it shortly after sticking it), making it a great choice for tedious pages.

Sometimes I have to put together a page that has many pieces and it isn’t always clear how it will go together. That is when I use this tape runner selection as well. I can move things around until I’m done with my page and satisfied with it.

For delicate embellishments, I just set it on my cutting mat, run this tape runner over the back of it, and the little dots stick to both the embellishment and the mat underneath. After pulling away my embellishment, I just rub the excess adhesive off of the mat like nothing happened.

It is truly a great tool to have in your bag and makes putting layouts together way less frustrating, which makes this one of scrapbooking tools I’m thankful for for many reasons.

4. Cutting Mat

I always thought the sole purpose of a cutting mat was to, you know, cut on. But the Creative Memories Custom Cutting Mat offers much more for making your scrapping easier and more efficient.

Scrapbooking Tools

Why I love it: The initial purpose of this mat is to provide you a place to make cuts with the Creative Memories Custom Cutting System patterns without scratching your table top. Beyond being a cutting mat though, it also is very helpful for measuring on your paper when doing layouts, as well as providing you with angles and marking points you may need for placing paper, punches, and lining up borders.

There have also been other techniques shared by Creative Memories users that this mat has become a requirement for. One of those is for cutting circular borders with your punches that require you to measure the right 30 degree angles on your cutout circle.

The custom cutting mat has truly become one of the 6 scrapbooking tools that I’m thankful for as I learn more and more what it can be used for!

5. Border Maker System

The Creative Memories unique Border Maker System quickly became a favorite for me. It offers so many options and ways to make your pages pop, making this one of the scrapbooking tools I’m thankful for as I work to make my layouts unique and fun!

Why I love it: The Border Maker System gives you lots of options without you having to haul more than you need to crops. If you are working on fall pages, only bring the cartridges you need to complete fall type pages. They simply change out of the housing and you follow the “track” to cut out the perfect borders! I’ve also created borders in a circle before to complete awesome and different looking frames on pages.

The Border Maker System helps put an additional pop to your pages without needing to use up your stickers and embellishments. It is definitely one of the must have scrapbooking tools for your bag that will help you make beautiful layouts!

6. Power Project Folders

In the crafting and scrapbooking world, organization equals efficiency. That is why I have discovered the Creative Memories Power Project Folders and organize all of my collections with them.

Scrapbooking Tools

Why I love it: When I’m packing up to go to a weekend crop, I feel like I need a general idea of what I am working on so I don’t end up hauling all of my stuff with me, and only use a fraction of it. What I love about the Power Project Folders, is that I can just grab the “winter” ones if I’m working on winter photos and bring those along.

You can not only store your paper packs in these handy sorters, but there are also pockets for your stickers, embellishments, mats, scraps, and I even put my corresponding photos in a pocket sometimes, so that you don’t have a specific collection scattered all over your craft room. I have also seen people use these to sort their cardstock colors, placing the full sheets in the middle and the scraps in the smaller pockets.

These will save you so much time and overwhelmed feelings when you are trying to decide what to pack and use for a given layout. Grab the ones you want and stick them in your tote without worrying about having it all together. This is definitely one of the scrapbooking tools I am thankful for!
