Week 9 – Hiking the Tool Exploration Trail
Welcome to week 9 of our hiking adventure through scrapbook pages! This week, we are going to have so much fun playing with a few different tools that make scrapping fun! We will be taking a deeper look at 3 different tools this week – Peekaboo Pockets, Foam Squares, and Punches! We’ll be looking at different ways you can use these tools to enhance your pages!

Challenge 25 – Use #ScrappyHike25
Our first hike will use the the amazing Peekaboo Pockets! These are awesome for adding more photos to a page without having to create a whole other page! In this example, I used all 4 x6/ 6×4 Peekaboos in their 2 different directions, which was a fun way to finish up what was left for the 2025 Ruhlig Family Camping photos -and there were SO many photos. Using the Peekabook Pockets definitely saved me pages.
To satisfy this challenge, you will simply need to place a cascade of at least 2 Peekaboo Pockets on your page. And in order for them to count as “cascading,” they need to be layered on top of each other.
They can be any sized Peekaboos you want and go in any direction you want, but they must cascade. You did receive 2 of each direction 4×6 Peekaboos in your gear pack way back before camp began. 😉
CM has lots of options and sizes for Peekaboo Pockets, so I encourage you to go check them out!
Again, there aren’t any specific instructions for this one, so your downloadable sheet below is literally just what your challenge is with pictures of my examples.
I hope you have fun playing with Peekaboo Pockets! These are so fun for so many reasons, and they are a great way to get more photos and hidden journaling into your layout!

Challenge 26 – Use #ScrappyHike26
The next leg of our hike takes us to the use of our Foam Squares! I think these are often forgotten, fun little assets for your layouts, so I wanted to dedicate a challenge to them!
I will say, I did enjoy doing this layout, but in the long run, I would have used a different punch since the oars were almost too narrow for me to put the foam squares on, so I had to do a lot of trimming.
To satisfy this challenge, just add an element that has Foam Squares enhancing it to your layout. If you want to copy this layout I did, you can download the instructions below, but you don’t have to.
CM offers 2 different thicknesses for the Foam Squares – 2mm and 1mm, as well as 1mm Foam Tape, so there are many options for your creating needs.
You can use punch outs, embellishments, or stickers to add the 3D flair to your page. Just make sure you have something that has the Foam Squares under it.

Challenge 27 – Use #ScrappyHike27
The final leg of our hike this week will show us more ways to use punches! I enjoyed creating this page and it is an idea I screenshotted a while back, I believe from Karyn McDermaid-Rolfe. I wanted to try it for myself, and I love how it turned out!
While this one is a little bit tedious, I think it was very worth it and didn’t end up being hard to create at all. I actually can’t wait to try it with other themes and punches! You could use Border Punches to cut apart and create with as well.
To complete this challenge, I would love if you created a layout like this one, but at the bare-minimum, you need to have at least 1 strip of punches on your page.

I can’t wait to see what themes and collections you use for this one! I think it is such a beautiful layout, and it will be fun to see all that is done with it.
