Looking for a dynamic, yet simple scrapbook layout for your next page? I found a great one on the Creative Memories blog from October 13, 2023 and show you how in this post! Check out a downloadable instruction sheet to add to your files below as well. Here is how I made this simple scrapbook layout in no time at all.
What I Used To Create This Simple Scrapbook Layout
To create this page, I picked 3 sheets of coordinating designer papers from various camping collections (since my photos revolved around camping). I used pieces from the older Leave Nothing Behind Collection from Creative Memories, as well as some from the Set Up Camp Collection.
You will also need your 12 inch trimmer and adhesive. I used Repositional Tape Runner to stick down the more tedious pieces.
I also used the Shutter Love Chain Border Maker Cartridge to make one of my corner strips, and the Banner Border Maker Cartridge to create the accents throughout the page. These helped add some flair to this simple scrapbook layout.
How I Made This Layout
Start with choosing an unobtrusive base. I think I could have gone a little less busy in my layout here, but I am a sucker for fun paper. Choose a coordinating paper for your corner pieces, and the other strips that trickle down from there.
I started with cutting out my 4 inch square and then cutting that in half (from corner to corner). I use the same sheet of paper I took the square from to also mat my photos so the page tied together well.
Next, you’ll want to cut your strips. I punched out the border as one of mine from the Shutter Love Chain BMC. Otherwise, you’ll just want to cut two- 1″ wide strips, at 12″ long. For your second set of strips, cut two pieces at 1/2″ wide, and 12″ long.
Adhere your corner pieces, starting with the triangles you made from your square cut in half, in opposite corners on your base. Then adhere your strips/borders, rippling out from the corners, starting with the 1″ pieces and then the 1/2″ pieces. Trim off what overhangs off your page.
The photos sizes you’ll need are 2 photos at 4″x 4″, and 3 photos at 3-1/2″ x 5-1/2″. Once you have your photos trimmed to that size, mat them, using a coordinating paper/color. Then adhere them onto your layout, layering them slightly.
Next I wanted to add some accents using the Banner Border Maker Cartridge. I punched a few of those out on one of my leftover papers and adhered those around my simple scrapbook layout, using the little hearts that also fell out of the Shutter Love Chain I made earlier. I used the Repositional Tape Runner to stick those little pieces down, as it can rub off the mat/table you are working on. I love my silicone mat that the dots don’t even stick to!
I created fun clusters of accent with the banners I punched out as well as with my stickers and embellishments to add dynamics to this simple scrapbook layout.
