Reminisce Summer With This Vivacious 12×12 Grid Layout

12x12 Grid Layout

This 12×12 grid layout from Creative Memories was the perfect way to remember those sweet, summer memories in the middle of February! I loved how this page turned out for me, and wanted to share it with you too. Check out how I made it below!

What You’ll Need to Create This 12×12 Grid Layout

To create this vivacious page, you will need a 12 Inch Trimmer. I love my trimmer from Creative Memories as it has so many features to help me get the precise cuts I need on crisp edge. For my layout, I used the Sweet Summer collection from Creative Memories, which worked with my photo colors perfectly! I love when a paper accentuates the photos, rather than takes away from them.

My 13 x 13 Mat also came in handy as I lined things up on the page. It is a perfect, built in ruler to keep everything in line on all sides. Use an adhesive of your choice, but I truly love the Creative Memories Tape Runner and Repositional Tape Runners, as they work like butter as you roll them onto your pages!

In terms of pieces on your page, you will need:

  • A 12×12 Base Sheet of Designer Paper
  • An 11-1/2″ x 9″ piece of Cardstock
  • A 12″ x 3″ strip for the bottom of your layout
  • 2 – 3″ x 1″ pieces from Designer Paper or Cardstock
  • 2 – 4″x4″ photos and a 4″x6″ photo, plus a mat for the 4″x6″ photo.
  • A title mat cut to 3″ x 4″ or another piece of Designer Paper
  • Another mat or journaling area sized 3″x4″ (or Designer Paper)
  • Embellishments, one being a border sticker 12″ long. (Or you could create a border.)
  • Pen for journaling

How To Make This Layout

12x12 grid layout

To create this 12×12 grid layout, start with choosing your base sheet. Then select another piece of cardstock and trim it down to 11 and 1/2″ by 9″. Adhere it to the top, center of your layout, leaving a 1/4″ border around the edges.

Proceed to cut out a strip of paper from another piece of paper sized 3″ x 12″ to adhere along the bottom of your layout. I used a more lively paper to help the page pop. Place a border sticker, border embellishment, or created border over the seam between the cardstock mat and the strip.

Cut a couple of pieces of paper (scraps work nicely), sized 3″ x 1″. You will need 2 of these.

Select a nice title mat. I used the Sweet Summer Memories mat from the Sweet Summer Variety Mat Pack, and trim it down to 4″ x 3″. You will need a similar mat or trimmed piece of paper for your journal box area as well.

Mat your 4×6 photo to a paper of your choice. Adhere down the 4×4 photos as pictured in the layout. Stick down your title mat and journaling box as pictured. Adhere down your 4×6″ photo in the center of your layout, overlapping over your other photos slightly.

Then line up your 3″ x 1″ pieces, slightly layered beneath your 4×6 photo, as pictured.

Finally, embellish around your page and journal as desired. I absolutely love the Sweet Summer collection and the stickers worked perfectly for what I was needing to create the setting of this memory!
